Better together
Sports journalist Sheridan Grey believes she’s going places. But when she loses her job, her boyfriend and her flat, the only place she’s going is to a small town newspaper. Writing horoscopes and reporting on dog shows certainly isn’t the successful career she craves.
Home-loving Nina Fallon’s life is shattered when the exploits of her actor husband become national news. Now she’s avoiding friends as she runs Ardbawn’s guest-house on her own.
When Sheridan moves into the guest-house, she realises life in Ardbawn isn’t as quiet as she expected. And that Nina holds the key to the story that will make her name as a reporter again.
But her desire to uncover the past puts her on a collision course with the present, and with the man she’s come to love. Suddenly she has more to lose than she ever dreamed possible.
I wrote Better Together because I’m fascinated by how our lives can change when we’re least expecting it. In the last few years especially, lots of people have had to cope with altered circumstances, with companies closing and jobs being lost and many of us, like Sheridan, having to move to find work. Nina and Sheridan both have different ways of dealing with the changes in their own lives but although they’re both very different characters they need to find their inner strength. I also find it really interesting how the past can impact on the present, even when the events of many years ago seem to have been forgotten, so that’s how the whole Paudie O’Malley storyline took shape.
I hope you enjoy reading about Sheridan, Nina and the rest of the characters in the book – you can read an extract here:

Here's a short video of me talking about the book (I'm terrible in videos, don't let that put you off!):
